Cecil County Spending Project

While reviewing information on the current Cecil County toll hikes at the Hatem Bridge I came across some interesting commentary from one of our elected officials on this issue a couple years ago.  You have to ask yourself whether these comments haven’t contributed to the sorry predicament we’re facing today. 

Roy Whiteley, founder and leader of Marylanders for Fair Property Taxation, encourages you to get involved with changing the way that tax assessments are done in the state of Maryland.  As many of you are aware the state of Maryland does a very poor job of assessing properties in a way that truly reflects real market conditions often resulting in citizens being assessed way too high and being taxed accordingly. 

Below is the MD House Republican Caucus budget proposal that, if enacted, would balance the state budget without increasing taxes.  If nothing else this set of slides shows that the state of Maryland is in grave trouble if bold cuts are not implemented soon.  The liberal attempt to tax-n-spend the citizens of the state of Maryland all the way to prosperity is not working–as evidenced by our ballooning budget problem. 

Gabriel J. Michael of the The Maryland Public Policy Institute is reporting that the Maryland’s Board of Public Works voted on Wednesday to purchase 1,062 slot machines for Penn National Gaming’s casino in Cecil County, at a cost of over $49 million.

Pamela Howard also gives testimony against the bill. 61% from property taxes. 30% from income taxes. Howard claims that, “It’s very easy to talk about cutting expenditures, but it is so hard to do.” Yet, here at CecilCountySpending.com, we’ve seen how it IS possible.
