Insanity! That is the only word you can use to describe the irrational and illogical approach so many politicians take towards the issue they like to call “revenue shortage”. Now, the truth of the matter is that when you look at the total amount of tax revenue any given government entity brings in, and compare it to the levels and quality of services provided by the average government office (local, state or national), any educated, intelligent person would agree that there is waste going on.
So, insanity is the only word I have to describe governor O’Malley and the Democrat’s gas tax hike proposal coming out of Annapolis! On top of that, insanity is the only word I can use to describe the journalistic malpractice by the WJZ-TV website new story that buries the truth about this story in the 4th to last paragraph.
The money the state collects from the gas tax goes into the transportation trust fund, but that fund has been steadily depleted to cover budget deficits and put us on a bad road.
So,here is the story. State Democrats have taken your hard earned tax money, promised you to use it for roads, and then proceeded to spend more than what they had. Upon getting the bill for all their excessive spending, they broke their promise to you and I, Maryland taxpayers, by using designated funds to pay for their pet projects and who knows what else. Now, they come back to us, the Maryland Taxpayer, and have the gall to say they need a gas tax hike to help pay for road maintenance.
That’s the like the alcoholic who goes straight to the bar to drink his paycheck on the 30th, and then begs you for “food money” so he can feed his kids at home. We need to do Maryland Democrats what any good woman would do to the alcoholic abusive husband–kick’em out of the house for the sake of everyone’s health and well being.
Maryland needs to wake up to the Democrat’s spending ways (…and those few naughty local Republicans that seem to forget from time to time who voted them into office) and start voting politicians according to their spending votes record. Time to start writing up your naughty and nice spending-politician list–election season will sneak up on you when you least expect it.
