Residents of the town of Elkton should be aware that the public hearing for the 2011 Annual Budget will be happening on May 19th, at 7:05 PM at the Elkton Municipal Building.

The address is 100 Railroad Ave, Elkton MD 21921.

Comments and questions are being invited during the hearing.

A public notice on the Cecil Whig says that the 2011 proposed budget will be available for public review at the Elkton Municipal Building on Friday May  14th, and thereafter. That’s not a lot of time to look over a yearly budget, so I hope multiple Elkton residents will take time to pick up a copy and look it over before the 19th. If anyone is interested in posting a guest-blog post to CecilCountySpending.com, I’d be glad to publish it. Just email me via the “Contribute” link on the top right.

I also looked in the Elkton website, www.elkton.org, but could not find the proposed budget documents in electronic format. I have already submitted an email to the Finance department (finance@elkton.org) asking for the budget documents in eletronic format. We’ll see what response I get.

To Whom it May Concern,

I was wondering if you would be making the 2011 Elkton budget available online or in electronic format? I’m interested in reviewing and submitting comments or questions, but am unable to take time off from work to pick up a copy at the Municipal Building.

Please advice if there is a link on the municipal website where I can find the proposed budget and related documents.

Thank you for your attention and help.

Sincerely,

Josue S.

Thanks for covering this. Sionce both candidates are running as fiscal conservatives this year, it’ll be interesting to see what a little digging comes up with. I’ve decided to go back and analyze the past 8 years of tax increases to see what that record shows and also the utility rates. That’ll at least give voters some actual data, rather than just the sound-bytes the candidates pass out.

Keep up the valuable work. It is appreciated by those seeking factual info. Whatever our views on things, it is so important to have info so we can form solid opinions on things.
